Pangolins are nocturnal, but they have a great sense of smell, so it is easy for them to find insects to eat! Pangolins spend most of the day curled up in a ball; they also do this as protection against predators. Arboreal pangolins live in hollow trees, but ground dwelling species dig tunnels underground, these tunnels can be as deep as 3.5 meters (11 feet). Pangolins are also good swimmers!
The Pangolin is nearly everywhere protected from hunting and 2 of the 8 Pangolin subspecies are listed as endangered by the IUCN! The Pangolin can be found in entire south-east Asia, there are still a few in Singapore, although this number is neglitable, they can be found in Malaysia and Thailand and may be found up as far as Laos or China.
